House-Shaped Beds Galore
As with anything we share here on Remodelaholic — this is for inspiration and entertainment purposes only. Be smart, and be safe. Especially in a child’s room, it’s important to maintain all safety precautions to keep everyone safe! And that’s the beauty of DIYing — build it how you like, for what your child needs! House-Shaped Beds or Reading Nooks
A floor bed can be a great transition for a young toddler to acclimate to a “real” bed, or it makes a great reading nook for kids, from early readers clear up to bigger kids who love to hole up in their own space with a good book. (Or hey, even for mom who just needs a moment to herself, maybe! or maybe we should just all live in house shaped nooks to stay sane while we remodel? 😉
Use our free plans here, inspired by this bed From Scandinavia With Love, to build your own house-shaped bed nook — and what you do with it after that can be totally unique and up to you! Here’s some of our favorite ideas:
Leave it wood and decorate with color around it (BonneSoeurs via Apartment Threrapy)
or fun wall paper (WoonBlog)
Take it to the pink side for your favorite little girl (via Apartment Therapy)

Black also makes a nice statement — and a large stripe or color-blocked wall behind it looks great, too! (Cotton On via Mommo Designs)
Polka dot wall decals add some extra whimsy without being inherently boyish or girly (via theposterclubkids)
Drape a sheet over the top, add some pompoms, and/or a cute mobile for a fun play space! (via piplastudio)
Black and white makes for a classic and cozy reading corner (via karohuseb) black and white reading corner
If you’re worried about your little one rolling out at night, it’s easy to add some rails to the sides (via macarenanguyen)
And if your little one would be more at home in a reading fort-slash-castle than a house — well, this would be a pretty fun build! (via bestkiddos)
